According to a news report, a new bill that has been signed into law will allow places that do not have high-speed Internet access to be identified so that government broadband programmes can better target US rural communities that need them.
US Senator Amy Klobuchar, co-chair of the Senate Broadband Caucus, who made the announcement on 30 March said 'now that the Broadband Data Act has been signed into law, we are one step closer to closing the digital divide. The law will improve the broadband data collection process to create more accurate maps so that we can bring high-speed Internet to every family, regardless of their zip code.'
