Vodafone's 2Africa submarine cable system was successfully anchored and connected on 12 March 2024 at Carcavelos, Cascais, to Altice Portugal's submarine cable station, as Altice owns the MEO network. The 2Africa submarine cable spans an impressive 45,000 kilometers, linking 33 countries across three continents.

Vodafone Portugal stated that the arrival of 2Africa in Portugal was made possible through investments from an international consortium. The cable's landing in Carcavelos serves as one of the European entry points, facilitating its connection to mainland Portugal.
