In a significant step towards strengthening technological cooperation, Kanysh Tuleushin, the First Vice Minister of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry, leads a delegation on a four-day visit to Mongolia aimed at expanding bilateral cooperation in e-government, information technology, and space technology.

The visit started on 29 April and was prompted by an invitation from N.Uchral, Mongolia's Minister of Digital Development and Communications. A "Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of communication technology" was signed, marking a new era of partnership between the two countries.

The agenda also features several events such as an extended meeting to exchange electronic industry experiences, a B2B meeting to foster private sector partnerships, and tours of Mongolia's "Khur", "Dan" systems, and one-stop service centers.

Why does it matter?

The delegation's visit offers Kazakhstan a platform to display its technological advancements and further its ambition to enhance its digital governance and expand its IT exports, initiatives that are already underway in countries like the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Sierra Leone, Togo, and more recently, Belarus. Mongolia, in turn, has recently made significant strides in its digital transformation, highlighted by the launch of the ONDO Space satellites (OWLSAT-1 and OWLSAT-2) via SpaceX and the commencement of Starlink services. Additionally, the Mongolian government enhanced its digital transformation efforts last year by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Estonia's e-Governance Academy (eGA) to advance e-government initiatives, focusing on digital identity, e-business, and e-residency.
