The Indonesian government is drafting a regulationto curb the imports of consumer goods through e-commerce platforms. The proposal follows a surge on these imports and goes in tandem with the need to reduce the trade deficit that the country is facing, according to the coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Darmin Nasution. The government estimatesthat nine in every 10 items sold on local e-commerce platforms in 2018 were imported.
