Huawei CloudEngine switches split stacking

Split Stacking

If the current stacking system is no longer carrying services, this stacking system can be restored to a standalone environment, in which case a split-stacking operation is required.

Background Information

When users remove the stack, they only need to de-enable the stacking function of the device and then remove the stacking cables. After de-enabling the stacking function of the device, the device will automatically reboot and run in an empty configuration after booting.

When you de-enable the stacking function of the device, the device will automatically backup the configuration file in the flash:/ directory. The file name of the backup is: original configuration file name + year, month, day, hour and second. For example, before de-enabling the stacking function, the running configuration file is named vrpcfg.cfg, and the time of de-enabling the stacking function is 2012-12-11 11:17:16, then the backup configuration file is named vrpcfg20121211111716.cfg.

Explanation

When split stacking, it is recommended that users connect all member devices through the Console port. If you connect through the management port, because the devices are running with empty configuration after the stack is split, you will not be able to log in through the management port.

Procedure

1. Execute the command system-view to enter the system view.

2. Execute the command stack to enter the stack management view.

3. Execute the command undo stack enable member { member-id | all } to de-enable the stacking function of the device.| all } to de-enable the stacking function of the device.

After you de-enable the stacking function of the device, the device will reboot and run in an empty configuration.

4. Remove the stacking cables.
