According to the BBC, Google has announced a timeline for implementing new privacy standards that will limit third-party use of cookies. In a blogpost, Google confirmed that its web-browser Chrome will 'limit insecure cross-site tracking starting in February, by treating cookies that don't include a Same Site label as first-party only, and require cookies labeled for third-party use to be accessed over HTTPS'. According to CNET, this announcement is part of an effort to make harder for publishers, advertisers and data brokers to harvest personal data without users' permission on its platforms.
