The Government of Ghana has signed a partnership agreement with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Norwegian government to support the Digital Transformation Centre (DTC), which aims to espouse an inclusive digital society and to improve knowledge and skills that are required for the digital economy, hence contributing to the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. Through this partnership, 14 000 Ghanaian citizens will be provided with job-ready digital skills, with a special focus on women entrepreneurs, pupils, teachers, and marginalised groups through 200 centres across the country. 'Without the requisite digital skills, the bulk of our population will be unable to enjoy the benefits of the many digital interventions undertaken by this government to formalise the economy, promote greater efficiency, and transparency and reduce corruption,' noted Minister of Communications Ursula Owusu-Ekuful.
