France and the Netherlands have proposed stricter regulation to oversee large tech companies to the EU, including Google, Facebook, and Amazon. In a joint document addressed to the EU Commission -the bloc's competition authority -both countries supported new rules for the EU to control the market power of large tech companies within EU member states. The two countries allege that a few US tech companies prevent competition or even the existence of smaller players in the common market. They urge regulators to delve into initiatives to foster competition in the sector, including the structural separation of big platforms to diminish their dominant position, and the portability of users' private data to a competing platform.
