FCC focuses on partners and path forward for its Emergency Broadband Benefit program

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) convened a virtual roundtable on its Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) program that tackled some relevant questions including how to communicate the EBB program to eligible consumers and who would be best to communicate the message. The event, which was attended by the four FCC commissioners, underscored how it takes a lot of work to implement a large-scale program like this that targets a wide range of people. The EBB program will offer a reduction of up to US$50 per month on broadband service for eligible households and up to US$75 per month for those on tribal lands. Additionally, eligible households can get a one-time discount of up to US$100 to purchase a laptop, desktop, or tablet from partner providers.
