Facebook Oversight Board has announced the first six cases where it could overrule Facebook's decisions to remove content from the social media platforms. Five cases are appealed by users for removal of content, such as hate speech, nudity, and dangerous individuals and organisations. One case is being referred to by Facebook and relates to removal of content inciting violence by commenting on French response to COVID-19. The cases are now open for public comments through December 7 and then will be decided by five-member panels within 90 days. The Facebook Oversight Board decisions serve as recommendations for Facebook on how to handle the cases.
