Experts discuss strategies to bridge India's digital divide

Experts gathered at the symposium -Digital Inclusion and Empowerment in India, a part of the DiSTO (From Digital Skills to Tangible Outcomes) project's India chapter -to address ways to bridge the digital divide in India. Key aspects discussed included improving people's digital skills and enhancing digital engagement in governance. Arindam Banerjee, Co-founder and Partner at Policy and Development Advisory Group (PDAG), emphasised the importance of large-scale digital inclusion initiatives to enable India's digital transformation journey. The event was organised by PDAG-Delhi and the Department of Media and Communications, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

The symposium at LSE aimed to address digital inequalities and inclusion by exploring the role of digital engagement in governance, socio-economic activities, and civic participation in India. Experts from academia, research institutions, and firms discussed various topics, including technology's impact on children, digital inclusion in labour markets, digital literacy's role in learning and government services, and the overall impact of the digital age on everyday life.
