According to the U.S. Census Bureau slightly above 40 million people in the US have a disability. According to a survey conducted by Pew Research center from Jan 25th to Feb. 8th 2021, some 62% adults with disabilities say they own a desktop or a laptop computer compared to 81 % of adults without a disability. When it comes to smartphone ownership, there is a gap of 16%, between those with a disability and those without one (72% vs. 88%).  When it comes to tablet ownership between adults who report having a disability (47%) and those who do not have a disability (54%). This shows a significant digital divide when it comes to digital devices, however, when it comes to Internet connection, the survey found that  72% of adults with a disability report having high-speed internet at home, a figure that does not differ statistically from the 78% of adults without a disability who say the same.
