The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Global Cybercrime Program launched the 'Safer Kids Online' campaign to raise awareness of the growing problem of online child sexual exploitation and abuse (OCSEA) in Africa, especially in Ghana, through education and ways to report violent crimes.

Amado Philip de Andres, UNODC Regional Representative for West and Central Africa, complimented the campaign and emphasized the importance of appropriately protecting children from the dangers of digital technologies.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of online threats, boost reporting on the UNODC online platform, promote safe online habits, and encourage open talks between children and parents, all of which are necessary for avoiding cybercrime in the digital world. The campaign will also advocate for the implementation of laws and sanctions and will be committed to ensure that perpetrators of crimes against children are prosecuted.
