Ride-hailing companies devise approaches to compensate workers during COVID-19

Apr, 13, 2023 Hi-network.com

Uber updated its paid sick leave policy for drivers and established a limit on the amounts it pays out in the USA. Drivers with pre-existing conditions that increase their risks of serious illness from COVID-19 are now entitled to the two-week paid leave benefits. The ride-hailing company also limited the maximum amount drivers can receive to make the policy suitable in the long term. Lyft has also changed its policy and will pay drivers depending on the amount they made over the prior month. DoorDash and Instarcart compensate drivers if they have COVID-19 or were asked to quarantine by a doctor. Postmates provides compensation in the form of health credit to cover testing and medical expenses, as well as compensation for drivers who are diagnosed with COVID-19.
