Microsoft will be co-chairing the First Five consortium established by the Artificial Intelligence and Technology Office (AITO) at the US Department of Energy (DOE). The consortium, composed of government institutions, academia, non-profit entities, and private companies, will be in charge of the development of artificial intelligence (AI) tools for management of natural disasters. The objective of the initiative is to use digital technology in the context of wildfire prediction, damage assessment, and search and rescue operations. Attention is also paid to delivery of real -time data to first responders when mitigating disasters.
