Followingindications that the US Federal Communications Commission plans replacing the 2015 net neutrality order with voluntary agreements for telecom providers, Internet companies met with the FCC chair to express their support for net neutrality and the 2015 order. During the meeting, the Internet Association, representing companies such as Facebook, Google, Twitter, and Microsoft, underlined that 'net neutrality preserves the consumer experience, competition, and innovation online', and that 'existing net neutrality rules should be enforced and kept intact'. The Association also noted that it supports 'light-touch rules that protect the open Internet', and that 'the rules should be ex-ante and enforced by the expert agency, namely the FCC'.
