Instagram has added new features for memorialised accounts, i.e., accounts of users who have passed away. From now, the banner Remembering will appear under the account holder's username, adding to features which have been in place for some time, such as: keeping memorialised accounts from appearing in public spaces (e.g. people's Explore section in the app) and prohibiting anyone from making changes to any existing posts or information. Instagram's spokesperson Liza Crenshaw said that the company's efforts on updating these features have been accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
