Facebook expands C2C e-commerce platform in Europe

Aug, 16, 2023 Hi-network.com
Facebook announced that its consumer-to-consumer (C2C) e-commerce platform, Marketplace, would be launched in 17 countries in Europe. Marketplace was first launched in 2016 in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. Marketplace's business model does not yet rely on charging either buyers or sellers for using the platform. This could make it an attractive option for consumers, creating a challenge to traditional C2C e-commerce platforms already in operation in Europe, such as eBay. Among the European countries that will soon be covered by Marketplace, are: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
