The research highlights authorities' efforts to regulate the internet, including lawsuits filed against journalists, activists, and political opponents for expressing disapproving opinions on social media.

Pakistan ranks as one of the least prosperous countries because, despite increased internet penetration, a significant fraction of the population remains without access or has limited access. In addition, there has been a considerable increase in female online harassment, blasphemy, online world campaigns, and the transmission of misinformation.
