The Ontario government has released technology and standards for use in the province's digital ID system. The standards aim to support Ontario's secure online services. The system envisages adoption of a digital ID system to facilitate identification authentication of people accessing services online. Key principles in the standards include compliance with government and industry standards, frameworks and laws; alignment with emerging technology standards; interoperability and open standards. The digital ID will be launched in late 2021.
