According toDomain Incite, the Norwegian government has opposed to a deal between the Norwegian ccTLD registry Norid and the Dutch ccTLD registry SIDN over the use of .bv in the Netherlands. .bv is the top level domain allocated for the Bouvet Island, an un-inhabited Norwegian territory in the Antarctic. BV also represents an acronym for the Dutch 'Besloten vennootschap met beperkte aansprakelijkheid', a corporate identifier similar to "Ltd" or "LLC", hence the attempt from SIDN to acquire the license to use the top level domain.
