In a new study, the Norwegian Consumer Council found that popular dating apps collect sensitive information, to share it with a myriad of advertisers. The data includes user's exact location, sexual orientation, religious and political beliefs, drug use and other information, which are then to at least 135 different third-party companies. The study points to various breaches of the EU's GDPR. According to NPR, this report is published as a group of civil rights and consumer groups is also urging US regulators to examine popular apps, including Grindr, Tinder and OKCupid for allegedly sharing personal information with advertising companies.
