A leaked US CIA assessment claimed that China is investing heavily in building cyber capabilities to seize enemy satellites, rendering them ineffective in wartime.
The cyber attacks would mimic the signals that enemy satellites receive from their operators, tricking them into being taken over entirely or malfunctioning during crucial moments in combat. Satellites would then be unable to communicate with each other and support weapons, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance systems.
The document is part of the recent leak of classified Pentagon documents.
