Good day, Huawei Users! I hope you are doing well. Not sure how to pair a replacement secondary router with the main router? Let's perform the following:
HUAWEI WiFi Q2 (3 Pack)
●Ensure that your replacement secondary router supports HUAWEI HiLink, and that the main router is a pack edition HUAWEI WiFi Q2 router.
●Ensure that your main router has been configured to access the Internet and that its indicator is showing steady blue. Ensure that your replacement secondary router is either brand new or has been restored to factory settings.
Method 1: Pairing through the HUAWEI AI Life app
Place the replacement secondary router (new or factory reset) near the main router (less than one meter away is recommended) and connect it to a power supply. Open the HUAWEI AI Life app, which will automatically detect pairable devices nearby. Follow the onscreen prompts to pair your secondary router.
If a notification prompt does not appear, touch the Add button in the upper right corner of the app's home screen.
Method 2: Pairing through the H button
The following example demonstrates how to pair two HUAWEI WiFi Q2 routers:
1. Place the replacement secondary router (new or factory reset) near the main router (less than one meter away is recommended) and connect it to a power supply.
2. Wait for approximately 1 minute until the main router's indicator flashes, at which point the main router has found the secondary router. Press the H button on the main router, the indicator will flash faster, indicating that they are being paired. Once the indicator on the secondary router turns steady blue, the pairing is complete.
After the pairing is successful, the Wi-Fi name and password of the secondary router will sync with the main router. You can improve your Wi-Fi coverage by placing your secondary routers accordingly. For the best results, it is recommended that there are no more than 2 walls in between your main and secondary routers that may potentially obstruct your Wi-Fi signal.
Method 3: Direct cable connection
Connect the LAN port on the main router to the WAN port on the secondary router using an Ethernet cable. Once connected, the routers will establish network connections automatically without manual configuration (for example, the following illustration shows the connection between two HUAWEI WiFi Q2 routers).
In wired networking mode, ensure that the main router is connected to an upstream network using an Ethernet cable, and that its indicator remains steady blue.
If you replaced two of the secondary routers, you will need to pair them both again. The pairing method for the other secondary router is similar.
HUAWEI WiFi Q2 (1 Base + 2 Satellites):
●Ensure that your replacement satellite router supports HUAWEI HiLink, and that the base router is a pack edition HUAWEI WiFi Q2 router.
●Ensure that your base router has been configured to access the Internet and that its indicator is showing steady blue. Ensure that your replacement satellite router is either brand new or has been restored to factory settings.
Method 1: Pairing through the HUAWEI AI Life app
Plug the replacement satellite router (new or factory reset) into a wall socket in the same room as your base router (less than one meter away from your base router is recommended). Open the HUAWEI AI Life app, which will automatically detect pairable devices nearby. Follow the onscreen prompts to pair your satellite router.
If a notification prompt does not appear, touch the Add button in the upper right corner of the app's home screen.
Method 2: Pairing through the H button
The following example describes the process of pairing a HUAWEI WiFi Q2 base router with a HUAWEI WiFi Q2 satellite router. The method for pairing a third satellite router is similar.
1. Plug the replacement satellite router (new or factory reset) into a wall socket in the same room as your base router (less than one meter away from your base router is recommended).Wait for approximately 1 minute until the base router's indicator flashes, at which point the base router has found the satellite router. Press the H button on the base router, the indicator will flash faster, indicating that they are being paired. Once the indicator on the satellite router turns steady blue, the pairing is complete.
2. Unplug your satellite router and plug it into the wall socket of a room with poor Wi-Fi signal reception.
After the pairing is successful, the Wi-Fi name and password of the satellite router will sync with the base router. As you move about in your home, your phone will automatically connect to the router with the strongest signal. For the best results, it is recommended that there are no more than 2 walls in between your base and satellite routers that may potentially obstruct your Wi-Fi signal.
If you replaced two of your satellite routers, you will need to pair them both again. The pairing method for the other satellite router is similar.
