The Facebook Oversight Board has upheld Facebook's decision on January 7, 2021, to restrict then-President Donald Trump's access to posting content on his Facebook page and Instagram accounts.
The Oversight Board has concluded that two posts by Mr. Trump on January 6 severely violated Facebook's Community Standards and Instagram's Community Guidelines and their takedown, as well as suspension of the account on 6 January 2021 and then on 7 January 2021 was justified.
The Oversight Board also concluded that an indefinite suspension of former President Trump from Facebook and Instagram was not permissible and insisted that Facebook review this matter to determine and justify a proportionate response within six months.
