Ethiopia's Information Network Security Agency (INSA) reported extensive cyber-attacks on Ethiopian government and non-government sites, operated by hackers based in Egypt. According to INSA, hackers targeted government sites and service providers, security agencies, private sector, and non-governmental organisations. Quartz connects the attacks to previous attacks by the Egyptian hacker group dubbed 'Cyber_Horus Group', which was threatening war over the Nile and a 'Pharaonic curse' upon Ethiopians, in response to a Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam project on the Nile.
