RMIT University published a report on designing in-school digital literacy activities and teacher professional development in new digital technologies that investigates the potential of emerging technologies in education. The research looks at how new technologies, such as smartphones and locative media, can support educators in the classroom to develop capabilities in digital, creative and critical literacies. To this aim, it presents learnings and reflections from previous projects that focused on primary school education in rural communities. The report hinges on the concept of 'place-making' and the ways that the local environment could be drawn on to inform teacher professional development in digital technologies -and in turn shape students' learning in creative and critical thinking.
