According to the National Law Review, Brazil's new General Data Protection Law (LGPD) will take effect in mid-September, after a last-minute decision not to delay its entry into force. After the Brazilian Senate rejected the postponement of the LGPD's rollout, it was decided that the LGPD will come into force at the end of a 15-business day period, or as soon as the Conversion Bill would be sanctioned or vetoed. Despite its official entry into force, the enforcement of the LPGD's penalties and sanctions provisions is delayed until August 1, 2021.
