The Australian Department of Home Affairs together with the Australian Signals Directorate and Australian Cyber Security Centre published draft guide Securing the Internet of Things for Consumers for public consultation. The purpose of the code is to establish and define a set of recommended measures to the Internet of things (IoT) industry in Australia. The code aims to raise awareness of IoT security related issues, build greater consumer confidence in IoT technology, and allow Australia to benefit from IoT industry. The code deals with the following issues: passwords, disclosure policy, device security updates, protection and governance of personal data, and strengthening security features. The deadline for public comments is 1 March.
