Uber has sold its driverless car division for US$4 billion to the Silicon Valley startup Aurora, after having invested hundreds of millions of dollars in self-driving car projects. Investors have put pressure on Uber to sell the self-driving unit as the company's revenue plummeted during the pandemic. As part of the deal between Uber and Aurora, the former will have 26% of Aurora bonds and Uber CEO will have a seat on the Aurora board of directors. According to the New York Times, Aurora's first product is likely to be a self-driving truck without passengers for security reasons.
