A Twitter troll by the name Douglass Mackey was arrested for election interference and for a voter disinformation campaign during the 2016 US elections. Mackey is being charged for conspiracy 'to disseminate misinformation designed to deprive individuals of their constitutional right to vote'. According to studies conducted by MIT's Media Lab, Mackey ranked among the top 150 influencers of the 2016 elections.
