The Nicaraguan Congress proposed cybercrime legislation that includes criminalising the sharing of false information. 70 members of Congress from the ruling Sandinista National Liberation Front party presented a draft law on September 28 th, called "Special Law on Cybercrimes". Human rights organisations are concerned with the bill, which would threaten free press and freedom of expression. The legislation does not explain what would determine that a piece of news is considered false or misrepresented, but it implies fines and sentences up to four years in prison.
