According to a news report, Internet access has faced several disruptions in Iraq, especially in the capital Baghdad. The information which was sourced from the internet observatory website Netblocks showed that the shutdown occurred at the time that the country is facing continuous anti-government protests.
Netblocks in a statement said that "at the time of writing, national connectivity has fallen below 19% of normal levels sending tens of millions of users offline across Baghdad, also impacting Basra, Karbala and other population centres. The new disruption is believed to be the most severe observed in Iraq to date." Iraqi authorities last month in a similar fashion shutdown the Internet whilst citizens were protesting against the government.
