Problem Description

Hanging ONU under EA5800-X7 cannot be auto-discovered, and the PON port is a newly opened port.

Processing

1. Auto-discovery switch of PON port has been punched.

2. The optical power received on the ONU side is -18db.

3. The ONU is a GPON ONU, and the PON board is a GPON service board.

4. The distance between ONU and olt is about 8km.

5. the ONU can be automatically found under other PON ports.

6. ot the same single board on other ports can also be normal discovery of ONU, optical modules in other ports can also be normal discovery of ONU.

7. check the olt data found under the port configuration of the minimum logical distance of 10km, the maximum logical distance of 30km.

8. the port ranging compensation distance will be restored to the default value after normal.

Root Cause

Due to the modification of the maximum and minimum logical distance of the GPON port, the ONU outside this range cannot be automatically discovered.

Solution

Restore the ranging compensation distance of the GPON port to the default value.

Suggestion and Summary

For modifying the maximum and minimum logical distance of the PON port is should be noted:

Maximum distance - minimum distance <= 40km.

For different types of PON ports, the actual range of test compensation distance supported by the system may be slightly larger. Try to make the actual physical distance between the OLT and the ONT ≈ (Maximum Distance + Minimum Distance)/2.
